Pursuing her Master of Music degree in Flute Performance at Florida International University, Vivien has given performances as asolo recitalist, chamber player, and orchestral musician in both China and the United States. She has been a featured soloist at the U.S. China People’s Friendship Association Gala. Currently a member of the South Florida Flute Orchestra and Sunshine Music Ensemble, Vivien has performed with the Florida Wind Symphony, National Intercollegiate Band, and the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra. In addition, she is very active as a theater musician. In 2009, Vivien founded and co-organized a benefit concert to raise money for the United States Fund for UNICEF.
Versatile, innovative, and highly recommended, Vivien currently teaches private instrumental lessons with the Mary and Robert Pew Public Education Fund, All-County Music, and Bravo Academy for the Performing Arts. She is currently the flute consultant at Seminole Middle School and Eagles Landing Middle School, and has also worked with Plantation High School and Dillard Center for the Arts. Many of her students have won district competitions and admission to top arts schools.
A former columnist for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Vivien holds a Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunication production from the University of Florida. Her zest for life has taken her around the globe, where she spent two years as an international oral and written English instructor in Northeast China. During this time, she served as Chief Editor of the student newspaper, coaching students on writing informative and engaging articles about topics concerning students.
